Author, politician and Montreal Canadiens great Ken Dryden talked to George on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his book The Game.
Dryden spoke about the ball hockey surface his parents set up in his boyhood backyard in Etobicoke, Toronto.
"Just after we moved into our new house, our parents did the unimaginable: they paved the backyard so that all of the neighbourhood ball hockey games could happen [there]," Dryden said.
"It is my favourite place of childhood. We had nets made — and I still have one of those nets, and my brother has the other. When I had my day with the [Stanley] cup, finally, a couple of years ago, we had a ball hockey game in our backyard, because the pavement had not been torn up. At one end was one of those original nets, and at the other end, was a net from the final game at the Montreal Forum."
