The Smithsonian Magazine has announced the 50 finalists for their tenth annual photo contest, and there are some pretty epic shots on display.
The contest's five categories are the natural world, travel, people, Americana, and altered images - if you have time, it's worth heading to the contest page at Smithsonian.com and looking at all the submissions.
The winners will be selected by Smithsonian's editors, but there are also Reader's Choice Awards, so if you'd like to weigh in, here's your chance.
