BP Oil Spill Goes Hollywood

Remember BP's little oopsy in the Gulf of Mexico last year? Millions of barrels of oil gushing into the ocean? It made household names out of obscure terms like "Top Kill," "Containment Dome," and "Blowout Preventer."

Well now, it looks like the movie version is coming...

Summit Entertainment and Participant Media have picked up the film rights to a N.Y. Times piece called "Deepwater Horizon's Final Hours."

The movie is said to depict the fateful moments leading up to last year's disaster, and the courage of those who worked on the rig before it blew up, killing 11 and injuring 17 others. Now, it should be noted that Summit Entertainment gave us 'Furry Vengeance' and the 'Twilight' movies, so apparently, they know a thing or two about disasters.

However, to be fair, they also gave us 'The Hurt Locker,' so fingers crossed I guess.
