Update: It's almost official - Winnipeg's new NHL team will be named the Jets! It's the right decision, and is symbolic of people power, since most Winnipeg-ers showed their Prairie Pride and made it clear this is what they wanted for their team.
The announcement is set to be made tonight the team before they make the seventh overall selection in the NHL entry draft in Minnesota.
Next up, bring home Teemu Selanne! Go Jets Go!

NHL Board To Vote Today On Winnipeg
Well, this is another big day for hockey fans in Winnipeg. The NHL board of governors is set to vote on the sale and relocation of the Atlanta Thrashers to the 'Peg. The decision is expected to be unanimous, but it will finally make everything official.
There is still one big question: what will the team be called? The Jets? The Moose? The Falcons? Winnipeg fans seem to be in favour of the Jets, as are many former Jets players.
The NHL owns the rights to the Jets name, and commissioner Gary Bettman has said the league would make it available if the new owners want to use it. By the way, the NHL draft is coming up this Friday.
Today, the club said it probably won't reveal a name or logo or jersey by then, so Winnipeg's draft picks will likely pull on a sweater with a generic NHL logo. Lame. Every kid who gets drafted dreams of putting on a team jersey. So, to the ownership group in Winnipeg - you have to go with Jets. The city of Winnipeg is begging you. Canada is begging you. It's the right thing to do.
