Your Space Station Vacation Will Be Ready In 2016

Looks like "jet set" will become a more literal term in a few years. A Russian company - Orbital Technologies - claims it'll be offering a hotel in space as of 2016. The company is building an orbiting craft which will allow up to seven people to stay together in four separate cabins. You'd better start saving now, though - a five-day vacation will cost you $1 million.

Tourists will be flown up to the station in a Russian Soyuz rocket, a trip that will take about a day. Once they arrive they can enjoy gourmet foods, a specially designed sealed shower, and their choice of horizontal or vertical bed. The hotel will also boast huge portholes, giving guests an unprecedented view of earth.

Very few private citizens have actually been to space as tourists in the past (7, to be exact), and the trip has always been expensive. The first - American engineer Dennis Tito - paid the water issues facing the planet.
