Twitter Gives A Voice To The Homeless

Is twitter just for tech savvy people or can it be used for greater good? Well, a new project called 'Underheard in New York' could help us find out.

Three interns at a New York creative advertising agency came up with the idea to give the city's homeless a way to tell their stories. They gave four homeless men prepaid cellphones, Twitter accounts, and trained them on how to use it. Already, the four men have each gained about 2,000 followers on Twitter.

One of the men, Derrick, has tweeted about trying to find a job: "The employement agency will open at 9:am, I will travel to the Bronx, NY in order that I may iron my suit and shirt."

Another of the men, Danny, has tweeted about Valentine's Day: "Today is a lonly day for a homles person noone to talkto i wich i can bewithsomebody love always putodanny"

You can read more of their tweets and find out more about the project here.
