What does a region that has a growing overpopulation problem do to try and slow it down? They might offer massive incentives like cars, televisions, and cash to convince eager non-breeders to go under the knife and get sterilized!
That's exactly what the state of Rajasthan, in India, is doing. India's population has increased by (not to, by) 181 million people in the last 10 years alone. So, health officials are creating big payoffs for volunteer sterilization. This isn't the first time the country has done it, either. In the past they've given away transistor radios, and even further back they were offering irrigation water and electricity.
More on Rajasthan's attempt at getting 30,000 people to undergo sterilization here.
