Canada To Fight Newborn Deaths

The other day, we interviewed one of the sharpest young political minds in the world - Parag Khanna. His new book 'How to Run the World' talks about an idea called "mega- diplomacy." Khanna suggests the world needs a new way of governing, where all the key players (governments, business, aid organizations, activists) work together. (See his interview here.)

Well today, we found a great example of Canada leading the way. It's a joint initiative called 'Grand Challenges Canada' and includes the project 'Saving Lives at Birth.'

Canada is teaming up with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, the World Bank and the government of Norway to help fight against the deaths of newborns and their mothers in the developing world.
