The Wrong Speech

February 16, 2011

This is incredible. India's minister of external affairs was making a speech at the United Nations - his first at the UN since India got a temporary seat on the Security Council. Only problem is, he made the wrong speech. Turns out, he started reading the foreign minister of Portugal's speech. At one point, he even said "I'd like to express my satisfaction regarding the happy coincidence of having two members of the Portuguese-speaking countries." But he kept going and it wasn't until three minutes that his aides let him know he had the wrong speech.

Check out the video below... it's around the 1:07 mark.
