Glee Sets New Billboard Record

Well, we knew this day was coming. But still, this is hard to say. Glee has just set the record for the most songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

And they did it by passing Elvis. That's right: Glee is bigger than Elvis.

With six new songs this week, Glee now has 113 songs that have made the list. Elvis had 108. Of course, the whole thing is a bit bogus. First, Glee covers songs that were already popular. Second, Glee is basically a 60 minute commercial for songs that show up on Itunes before the credits even roll. So people watch the show, download the song for 99 cents, and suddenly, Glee is the new record holder. Incidentally, fewer than a quarter of those songs remain on the charts longer than a week. By the way, if you're wondering, here's the all time top ten list.
