When she passed away on July 23rd of this year, Amy Winehouse left behind a legacy of brilliant music, stamped with her unique, powerful personality and voice. Today would have been the singer's 28th birthday. Since her death, her last studio album, 'Back to Black', has become the UK's highest-selling disc of the 21st century.

The singer's family also announced the launch today of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which will provide support for young people, especially those in need because of "ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction".
