Coming Up: Maestro ‘Fresh Wes’ Williams & Steve Jordan September 20, 2013

It's a full-house in the broom closet this Sunday. We have our annual Polaris Prize special with co-founder Steve Jordan and Wes 'Maestro Fresh' Williams visits to commemorate his 25-years in the business. With three-hours of commercial-free music and a lot of ground to cover, we're in for a good night on the spirit of radio.

Steve and George will be rifling through the nominated artists of this year's Polaris Short List [LINK:], an award that celebrates and awards the artist merit of creativity and diversity in Canadian recorded music over this past year. They'll dive into the conversation around the current state of music in this country and spin some great tunes by those on the Short List that includes Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Zaki Ibrahim, Metric, METZ, Purity Ring, Colin Stetson, Whitehorse, Young Galaxy and Tegan & Sara.

Also, we're joined by Wes 'Maestro Fresh' Williams to discuss his 25-years as the Godfather of Canadian Hip-Hop with George. Starting from freestyling in a Scarborough restaurant to his all-star jam at Massey Hall on Saturday night that serves a feast of Canadian hip-hop moguls like K-Os, Shad, Kardinall Offishall and more.

As always, we'll be tipping our hats to those ground-breakers and game-changers with a Nod to the Gods, spinning the best new tracks on the Magnificent Seven, Tom Waits on Ten with Tom and we'll set you into the collective horizontal with the Big Lie Down.
