Looking for some great Canadian hip-hop? Look no further: it's here.
Check out the world premiere of the video for SonReal and Rich Kidd's latest single, 'Hometown', above.
The clip was directed by Liam Mitchell and produced by Mauricio Ruiz of Mad Ruk Entertainment, with Arthur McArthur producing the track.
If you're not familiar with them, SonReal and Rich Kidd are two Canadian hip-hop artists from Vancouver and Toronto, respectively. They released their collaborative album 'The Closers', last year on October 16, 2012.
It's up for a Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year - the ceremony takes place on April 21 in Regina.
The pair first met back in the mid-2000s when they were both starting out. In 2011, they released a video for their collaboration 'Already There', which got a lot of positive attention.
When both artists ended up signing with Black Box, the label suggested a collaborative EP, but the pair produced so much quality music that it ended up getting expanded to a full 10-song record.
Rich Kidd talked to Exclaim! recently about what makes the collaboration work: "We both have the same respect for quality music, so that never fails on that end. And the styles of rap that we bring are different, so when it comes together on the record you can hear the difference, but you can hear how the synergy flows."
Rich Kidd and SonReal were on the Strombo Show on January 27. You can check out that interview - and some great acoustic performances - starting at the 56:30 mark below:
