It seems like the only story anyone's talking about today - Hurricane Sandy is headed for the U.S. north-east, and no one knows exactly what's going to happen.

Several U.S. states have declared emergencies, schools are closed, and transport services have been suspended.

New York City is basically shut down. According to reports, the 50,000 taxis that roam the streets of New York are nowhere to be seen, and the NYC subway has been shut down since Sunday night at 7 p.m.

In Canada, meanwhile, officials are warning anyone in the path of the storm to be ready to go without power for at least 72 hours, and forecasters say some areas of the country could see more than 50 millimetres of rain and winds of up to 100 km/h.

According to the Weather Network, as many as 23 million Canadians could be affected by Sandy. That's 70 percent of our population.

Hundreds of flights have been cancelled to and from Eastern Canada, and heavy rainfall is expected as early as this afternoon in Ontario, this evening in Quebec, and Tuesday morning in the Maritimes.

If you want to keep tabs on Sandy online, there are a number of webcams showing the progress of the storm. You can watch the weather in Times Square right here, and the New York Times has a webcam set up in their building that shoots a pic every minute.

Plus, there's this camera, set up in the offices of Brooklyn web designers Oak Studios, which is streaming video of the gathering storm.
