It's been a long time coming, but the United States is in talks with pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The two sides are apparently discussing what kind of aid programs would work best for Burma, particularly since the U.S. has imposed sanctions against Burma's military junta. Suu Kyi was recently released set free by Burma's leaders, but her party boycotted elections last November. They were widely criticized at home and abroad as a sham designed to keep the junta in power.
