Tiny House in the Drina River in Serbia.jpg

It might look like you could huff puff and blow this house down. But to quote from George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion - "not bloody likely."

This resilient little home - perched precariously on a rock - has withstood Mother Nature's worst for 45 years.

It's also the bane of any postal worker's existence.

The house is located right in the River Drina, near the town of Bajina Basta in Serbia.

The foundation for this insurer's nightmare was fashioned in 1968 by a group of youngsters, who initially got boards from a nearby shed and set them up on the rock to take a break from swimming.

A year later, one of them came up with the idea to build a one room house. So, they brought in materials and supplies - either by boat and kayak or just by floating them down the river.

The house has been beaten by wind, rain and serious flooding and its existence has literally hung in the balance.

The Drina River website calls it "a unique oasis of nature, [an escape] from the constraints of civilization".

Tourists from around the world have been showing up for months to get a look at the place, which its owner calls, "a perfect place to spend the holidays".
