The 2013 Toronto International Film Festival gets started on September 5, and the buzz has already begun.
TIFF has released a preliminary list of movies that are playing the Fest, and as usual there's lots of great stuff coming, with movies from Canada, South Africa, France, South Korea, Australia, Germany, the U.S. and the UK.
But we'll get to the movies in a second. The bigger question: what about the parties?
Well, two major events have already been announced, and George will be co-hosting one of them. Here's the deal:
Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) Festival Lunch
Once again, APJ is hosting a charity gala lunch to coincide with TIFF, and the guest list is already looking good: Mila Kunis, James Franco, Olivia Wilde, Adrien Brody, and Liam Neeson will all be in attendance (subject to availability), as well as Paul Haggis, the writer-director who founded the organization.
The event is happening at the home of Roots founder Michael Budman and his wife, Roots design director Diane Bald, both of whom will co-host alongside Haggis, Pascal Raffy and George.
You can read more about it, buy tickets, and donate to the cause at APJNow.org.
amfAR Inspiration Gala
amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, is holding its Inspiration Gala again this year on Sunday, September 8.
According to Shinan Govani at the National Post, Alan Cumming will be hosting the event, Hilary Swank is the honorary co-chair, and American indie-rockers The Gossip will be performing.
The event is being produced by planner Josh Wood, and the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) will be honoured for 30 years of dedicated service to the Toronto community. You can read more about it and get tickets at the amfAR site.
Now about those movies: here's the list of what's been announced so far.
People are getting pretty excited about the films on offer. As a headline on AV Club put it, the lineup includes "every movie you'll want to see for the rest of 2013."
