We all know about Rupert Murdoch's News Corp and the alleged phone hacking scandal. Well now, his iPad-only American paper The Daily is sending military-grade aerial drones into the sky to gather video for its stories.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Authority is investigating the paper's use of the unmanned camera drones to ensure it complies with regulations on private drone usage. Apparently, the FAA is planning on relaxing its drone aircraft restrictions later this year, but for now the official line is that drones are only to be used by the military or hobbyists, not businesses.
To be fair, it's possible that all of this is just one of Murdoch's hobbies. After all, if you can't buy Sky News, you can at least put your idea of news in the sky.
