Sarah McLachlan on how pop music has changed since the days of Lilith Fair, and why she won't let her 9 year old daughter - who has read the book - go see the movie adaptation of 'The Hunger Games'.
SM: "I went to see the movie - I was gutted... It's so emotionally draining and intense and I think, damaging for kids to see. I know one of the girls in her class went to see it, and that's way too young. Those images... there are children killing each other in gruesome ways. I just don't think that's a healthy thing to show kids. The other side of that... is that 'Katniss' the lead character - she's an incredibly strong female character, so for that I think she's a strong role model for girls because she's incredibly moral. There's this inner dialogue continuously about how she has to try and make the right decision - and she pretty much always does, but it's always with a good dose of self loathing. I love her."
