Robocop Statue, Part 2 - Murphy Lives?
February 20, 2011
submit to reddit

Recently, we told you about a campaign to immortalize Detroit's greatest hero - Robocop - with his own statue. It all started as a joke tweet to Detroit Mayor Dave Bing, but when the Twitterati got a hold of it, they were like, Yes! Sadly though, Mayor Bing wasn't into it.

Hearts, both human and cyborg, were broken. But did the good citizens of Detroit just roll over? No, they did not. Instead, they took their campaign to the hyper-nets, and started this little fund-raising drive to make it happen.

Apparently, they've raised more than $50,000. Mayor Bing says he still doesn't see the value in it, but that's not the same thing as blocking someone else from doing it. Cross your cybernetic fingers, Officer Murphy! You might yet stand watch over Detroit once again.
