Here at George Stromboulopoulos Tonight, we periodically take a moment to share Something You Might Not Know About Canada.
As for those things you already do know about Canada, odds are good you learned many of them from one of Historica Canada’s Heritage Minutes.
Since they first debuted back in 1991, the one-minute short films have become a beloved part of Canadian popular culture.
Production of the Minutes had been on hiatus for almost a decade before a new batch was produced to commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of the War of 1812. Now, Historica is gearing up to premiere two new editions of the shorts to coincide with what would have been Sir John A. Macdonald's 199th birthday. You can check out the new Heritage Minutes on Historica Canada’s website starting this Saturday.
But, if you can’t wait that long, be sure to tune in to the Debrief on January 9 at 11:30 p.m. for a sneak peek.
