We're just days away from the unofficial start of summer movie season. And while there are a lot of cool movies coming out this summer, in the even more distant future there are some awesome projects that look like they're about to get the green light.

Let's start with Genie winner Denis Villeneuve. According to the LA Times, the acclaimed Canadian director is not only doing his next film in English, but he's doing it in Hollywood. It looks like getting an Oscar nod for Incendies got him some attention down South and he has signed on to direct Prisoners for Warner Brothers. Prisoners is about a Boston father who takes a man hostage who he believes kidnapped his daughter. The script has been making the rounds in Hollywood on "The Black List" (the annual compilation of the year's best unproduced screenplays), and up until now was just looking for the right director. By selecting Villeneuve, they have definitely made the right choice.

Our next piece of film news will be great news to all fans of British comedy. The long awaited Alan Partridge film looks like it is finally getting made. If you've never heard of Alan Partidge, he's an arrogant but awful TV/radio host, played by the hilarious Steve Coogan. If you're a fan of the UK Office or Curb Your Enthusiasm, you must watch the DVDs of these shows: 'Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partidge' and it's follow-up 'I'm Alan Partridge'. It's dry, celebrity satire at its absolute finest. And once you've caught up on these shows, you'll be all set for the movie.

And finally, the news we've been waiting decades to hear. It finally looks like a new Bill and Ted movie will be made in the near future. Over the weekend, Alex Winter tweeted that he has the script. And a few weeks before that, Keanu Reeves opened up about the film's plot. Even though we'll all miss George Carlin in this next installment, I think we can all agree this news is EXCELLENT!!!!!
