McGill Researchers Dance to Beat Cancer
September 29, 2011
submit to reddit

Finding a cure for cancer is serious business, and the research scientists at McGill's Goodman Cancer Research Centre take it seriously. But sometimes, even the most hard-working researcher has to take a break to drop some science on the dancefloor:

The video, which has racked up nearly 30,000 hits since September 21st, features a combination of professional dancers and actual McGill scientists. In all, 15 staff members took part in the dance routines, 11 of them doctors. It's designed to "highlight some of the critical work being done at the Goodman Cancer Research Centre." The vid is also designed to raise money: for every hit that it receives, the video's sponsor Medicom will give a donation to the Centre.

It's an appropriate time for the release - next month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the video was choreographed by Adonna Greaves, a fitness and dance instructor who was herself diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago.

For more on the Goodman Cancer Research Centre's work, which focuses on breast cancer, stem cells, metabolism, DNA damage and embryonic development, you can visit their website.
