The world of chicken beauty pageants is an odd one — and one that's incredibly popular in certain pockets of Malaysia. Singapore-based photographer Ernest Goh stumbled upon the show chicken circuit while researching another story, and was so captivated with the characters (human and avian alike) that he decided to ditch everything and document the chicken beauty pageants he'd encountered. Turns out the birds are all the same breed: Ayam Serama, which are bred strictly for their looks. They're brought up by incredibly dedicated people who love to show them off, travelling the country pageant to pageant, grooming and pampering their birds so they have the best chance of winning. Goh's new book, Cocks: The Chicken Book, showcases the chickens in all their fine-feathered, chest-puffing glory. In the gallery above, you can see a few of the incredibly striking images.
