Weeks after their remarkable uprising, millions of people in Egypt voted freely over the weekend for the first time in more than half a century...

Many lined up for hours waiting to cast their ballots on constitutional amendments to eliminate restrictions on political rights and civil liberties. It's the first test of the country's transition to democracy and was by far the freest vote since the military seized power in a 1952 coup.

Only men with military backgrounds ruled Egypt, until the fall of President Hosni Mubarak...
