George Kicks Off This Year’s Hockey Season Today With NHL Face-Off
October 1, 2013
submit to reddit

George's devotion to his beloved Habs is no secret. So it's entirely appropriate that he'll be at this year's Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off, the league’s annual season-opening double-header — which begins with a showdown between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The pre-game festivities take place today, October 1, at Montreal's Place Des Festivals, starting at 3 p.m.

George will be introducing this year's headliners, Nashville's Kings of Leon, who he interviewed on the show back in 2008 (they're back in the red chair on this Wednesday's show, too — don't miss it). The band will take the stage around 6:45 p.m. E.T. and play until the puck drops. Hockey Tonight, the pre-show for Hockey Night In Canada, will broadcast two of the songs live on CBC, and the whole concert will be streamed on Opening for the Kings will be Toronto indie rockers The Beaches and Montreal rappers Loco Locass.

The second half of the all-Canadian double-header will be the Winnipeg Jets facing down the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place in Edmonton, starting at 10 p.m. E.T.

Tune in to CBC TV starting at 6:30 p.m. E.T. on Tuesday, October 1 to catch all the action.
