Foos vs. Fools: The Foo Fighters Take on Anti-Gay Protesters
September 19, 2011

The Foo Fighters like to bring the funny in their videos, from the giant hand smackdown dream sequence of "Everlong" to the in-flight hijinks of "Learn to Fly." But last Friday, one of their video concepts made the leap from the screen to the street.

When the Westboro Baptist Church called for supporters to picket the Foo's show in Kansas City with anti-gay signs and slogans, the band struck back with a special tune: "Keep It Clean (Hot Buns)," which the Guardian refers to as a "gay love song."

The band performed the tune dressed as a bunch of randy truckers - characters they created for a recent video promoting their "Hot Buns" tour (Link 4). The clip features the Foos soaping each other up in a truck stop shower.

The move cements Dave Grohl's position as the most accessible man in rock and roll. Whether he's sharing a beer with miners, or rocking out in a mosh pit, we never know where he'll appear next.
