Disney Classics Get “Honest” Posters

If you grew up watching Disney animated movies, chances are you just enjoyed them for their visual style, song-and-dance numbers, and pleasant stories.

But when you think about it, a lot of those films were kind of dark. After all, many of them were based on old fairy tales, which can get a little intense.

These "honest" posters, created by pop culture site TheFW, expose another side of some Disney classics.

For instance: 'Beauty and the Beast' revolves around a glorified kidnapping (hence 'Stockholm Syndrome').

A few were downright politically incorrect - there's something a little (ahem) fishy about Ariel's decision to leave her entire mermaid identity behind just so she can marry a prince.

And 'The Lion King' is basically just Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' retold with animals.
