From high up, the Earth looks pretty incredible — that, essentially, is the premise behind the blog the Daily Overview. The team posts pictures culled — and highly curated — from Apple Maps, showing the planet as it looks from several thousand feet in the air. The blog is based on the overview effect, often experienced by astronauts who have witnessed the Earth from above. As the Daily Overview states: "Common features of the experience are a feeling of awe for the planet, a profound understanding of the interconnection of all life, and a renewed sense of responsibility for taking care of the environment." To help bring that experience to surface dwellers, the Daily Overview publishes one image of a landscape — usually man-made ones, like clusters of baseball stadiums, yachts docked in marinas, industrial parks and airports — every day.
