CRTC To Review Internet Billing
February 9, 2011
submit to reddit

Big news about a story we've talked a lot about on the show. "Usage based" billing for the internet. The CRTC approved the idea last month. Under the plan, you'd be charged for how much you use the internet, basically killing "unlimited" plans. That sparked a huge backlash and last week, Industry Minister Tony Clement said Ottawa wouldn't let the CRTC's ruling to stand as is. Well now, the CRTC has agreed to review its decision. As well, Shaw has backed away from its own plan to bring in "usage based" billing and is asking customers for feedback before it goes any further.

By the way, the CRTC is accepting public comments until April 29 and will seek input on whether to hold a public hearing. To have your say, click here...
