Comic Dressed As Soccer Player Sneaks Onto Field Before Manchester City Game

It's not that unusual to see a fan run onto the field during a baseball game or a football game. You know, to get their two minutes of fame.

But once in a while, you get someone who goes that extra mile and puts a plan together that you can't help but respect.

Case in point, British comedian Simon Brodkin.

On the weekend, Brodkin sneaked onto the field to warm up with one of England's premier soccer teams Manchester City, before their game with Everton.

Brodkin dressed up as his soccer playing alter-ego Jason Bent, wearing a maroon tracksuit exactly the same as the ones worn by Manchester City.

He got in about 5 minutes of stretching and jogging, before some players caught on and security showed up.

As the Daily Mail reports, as Brodkin was being led away, he apparently shouted "Come on let me play. I've got 50 grand on me to score first."

This brings to mind a moment in 2003 at the NHL Heritage Classic, between the Edmonton Oilers and the Montreal Canadiens.

'Raj Binder' of 22 Minutes fame managed to get into the official photo with the Habs and Oilers alumni after the game, which got a few noses out of joint.

That's 'Raj' on the far left, bottom row.

'Raj' (aka Shaun Majumder) later apologized on 22 Minutes and is back in the NHL's good books - having covered the return of the Jets to Winnipeg last season.

There's also this moment when a fan stole the ball from former NFL superstar Bret Favre.

Or how bout this one - seemingly ripped from a pro wrestling playbook - a fake referee showed up during a U.S. college football game between UCLA and Arizona.

It was the shorts that gave him away.
