As you can see in this collection of covers from the UK press, Andy Murray won the men's singles at Wimbledon yesterday, beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

There's a reason they're making such a big deal out of the win: it's been 77 years since a British man won the Wimbledon men's singles title. The last guy to do so was Fred Perry, who won back in 1936.

To give you an idea of how long ago that really was, Fred played in long pants. The game's changed a little since then.

It's a big story - but a big Canadian story also unfolded right after Murray took the title.

Daniel Nestor, a hugely successful Canadian athlete, took to Centre Court to contest the mixed doubles final right after Murray departed with his trophy.

Nestor and his partner Kristina Mladenovic of France, won the match versus Bruno Soares and Lisa Raymond 5-7, 6-2, 8-6.

The Serbian-born Canadian player (Nestor was raised in Toronto) is pretty used to winning things: to date, he's taken 80 men's doubles titles. That makes him the fourth most-decorated doubles player of all time.

Yesterday's win was also Nestor's 11th Grand Slam doubles title, his third at Wimbledon, and his third in mixed.

For his partner, it was a first: Mladenovic has never won a major title before.

"She's going to be one of the top singles players eventually," Nestor told the Toronto Star. "Right now, you know, she's focusing on doubles and mixed. I think that will change one day. I caught her at the right time."

We caught up with Daniel Nestor earlier this season and asked him for some tennis tips: specifically, how to talk trash on the court.

Here he is, along with Serena Williams, Milos Raonic, Eugenie Bouchard and Damon Allen, showing us how to talk smack while smacking a tennis ball:
