The Dogs Are Eating Them Now — Graeme Smith

George's guest in the red chair tonight is veteran CBC broadcaster Anna Maria Tremonti. For nine years Tremonti was a foreign correspondent for The National, reporting from more than 30 countries on stories that ranged from the breakup of the Soviet Union to the Middle East and the cruelty of the war in Bosnia. She went on to host the fifth estate for two years before turning to radio with The Current on CBC Radio One. We thought we'd tap Tremonti's wisdom for some must-read book recommendations. Her selections included books about politics and Canada's role in Afghanistan, as well as a couple of great works by foreign correspondents in other areas. See her picks in the gallery above.

George's interview with Anna Maria Tremonti airs on January 16 at 7 and 11:30 p.m. on CBC TV.
