The swimming pool at the Kerry Hotel in Shanghai's Pudon district measures 25 by 12.6 by 1.3 metres. And on October 30, the hotel's owners filled the whole thing with one million pink and green orbs of plastic joy, claiming the Guinness World Record for, yes, the largest ball pit ever. The stunt was coordinated as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month's Pink October campaign. The balls were sold in advance throughout the month (they went for about $6 for 100), and the proceeds were donated to breast cancer education. For the actual triumphant adult ball pit party, the hotel invited 300 recovering cancer patients from the Shanghai Cancer Recovery Club to let loose in a sea of pink and green. See the result in our gallery above.
