150th Anniversary of the Civil War

How do you celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War without also inadvertently celebrating slavery?

Some of the southern States are planning endless revelries and re-enactments this month, but civil rights groups intend to protest the festivities because, you know, given the location, it's a little difficult to argue that one of the most gruesome wars in history is cause for party hats, dancing, and cake.
