When Toronto mayor Rob Ford said he'd put an end to the "war on the car," he may have spoken too soon. In Vilnius, Lithuania, the war continues, and the weapons are getting bigger and badder. In fact, mayor Arturas Zuokas hates cars that park in bicycle lanes so much that he did something about it: he ran over one of them with a tank.
You can see video of the mayor's crushingly effective solution here:
Describing his tank as "a good tool to solve the problem of parking in the wrong place," Zuokas then proceeded to roll over a blue Mercedes that some unlucky citizen had parked in a bike lane. According to the UK's Daily Telegraph, the whole thing was probably an elaborate stunt. Still, cyclists the world over are drooling with wish fulfillment envy.
