So... yeah. As you probably know (assuming you're one of those sci-fi/fantasy nerds) a long time ago, in a made up world far, far away... Elves and Men and Dwarves and Wizards did battle with the forces of evil. Sauron was defeated, and light did return to Middle Earth, and blah blah blah.

Well, apparently one dude just can't let it go. He's a Russian scientist and novelist named Kirill Eskov.

Back in the 90's, he wrote his own version of the Lord Of The Rings called "The Last Ring-Bearer." The big difference? It was written from the bad guys' perspective. In his version, the forces of Mordor are the good guys, the enlightened champions of reason and science. Meanwhile the Elves and Wizards and Men of the West are portrayed as Machiavellian luddites, pushing a quasi-religious agenda. Gandalf and Aragon are especially painted as dicks. Well guess what? The English translation is now available.
