Over the years, the music business has seen its share of so-called "over-sized bands." Not in stature, but in members. And let's be clear, that's not a bad thing. 'Arcade Fire', anyone.
Others that come to mind - 'Broken Social Scene', 'Earth, Wind & Fire', 'Chicago', 'Slipknot', 'Kool & The Gang', 'The Pogues', 'Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros', 'The New Pornographers' - all of them with anywhere from 7 to 10 members.
Then, there's 'The Polyphonic Spree', with 20 members and 'I'm From Barcelona', with 29. And of course, the big jazz and swing bands which typically have 12 to 25 members and orchestras which can have 100.
But what about a band with more than 2000 members. Sort of.
There's a guy named Ze Frank who's an online performance artist and composer. He's based in Los Angeles and he's created a music video with 2,601 contributors.
Over the course of four months, he asked people to send him a video of themselves performing the same song. From there, he and his musical partner mixed them together.
They ended up with a video that combines 96 people singing, 186 people on instruments and singing back-up, 247 people doing choreography, 786 people on percussion, and 1,305 people mixing sounds into beats.
