Bring the Funk(raising)! George Clinton Is Asking For Help With His Studio

February 21, 2012

George Clinton, the leader of Parliament Funkadelic, just started an IndieGoGo account to raise funds to restore and preserve some original P-Funk recordings, as well as the "family recording studio" where the collective makes music. According to Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic has faced "countless acts of copyright fraud, theft, and intellectual injustice", and the IndieGoGo initiative is intended to help the band "expand [their] self-sufficient nature".

The goal is to raise $50,000 from fans and wellwishers, and George and the gang are offering some serious incentives to anyone who contributes.

For $35, you can grab an autographed copy of George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars' double CD 'How Late Do You Have 2BB4UR Absent', and for $200, the band will send you an autographed t-shirt. A $1000 donation gets you a 30 minute Q & A phone call with George and bandmate Bootsy Collins. If you're feeling really generous, you can even get an invite to a private concert at 'The Moon' club in Tallahassee for you and 100 guests - it'll cost you $25,000.
