Kristin Scott Thomas on Tom Cruise, Ryan Gosling and ... Prince

Actor Kristin Scott Thomas sits down with George to talk about her impressive and varied career, which started (believe it or not) opposite Prince in the 1986 film, Under the Cherry Moon.

In this clip, Kristin talks about some of the leading men she's worked with over the years and reveals the 'Gosling effect' that her new co-star, Ryan, tends to have on female fans.

Watch the full interview with Kristin Scott Thomas Tuesday on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight at 7 p.m. (7:30 NT) and 11:30 p.m. (12 a.m. NT).

In this clip, Kristin talks about...

Working with Prince

GS: You have worked with some of the great leading men of all times -
KST: This is true
GS: From Ralph Fiennes to Tom Cruise ... does Prince make it on that list?
KST: Listen I cannot even ... it was extraordinary when I got the call to do the audition for [Under the Cherry Moon]. I had been listening to Raspberry Beret non-stop on my little headphone things ... just obsessed with Prince and suddenly I got a telephone call "Will you go for an audition for this tiny part in this movie?"
So I go up for the tiny part in the movie and there's a lot of muttering around the video cameras as they film me and then they say "Would you like to audition for the lead?" and then I did, and I got the part!

Ryan Gosling

KST: Ryan Gosling is great. When I mention to people - as one does in passing - "I'm making a film with Ryan Gosling," usually women fall over! It's extraordinary - the effect!
GS: He's almost like a breeze!
KST: Or a hurricane! He played my son, which is sort of disappointing (laughs)
