Remember Fame? Well, Isaac Mizrahi lived it. And it changed the course of his life. When he enrolled, he was a young, gay, alone, struggling to fit in at his Orthodox Jewish school. But at New York’s High School of the Performing Arts, Isaac found his tribe: actors, dancers, artists. And it only got better from there. He started designing his own clothes and hitting Studio 54. By his early 20s, he was fashion’s golden boy. He founded his first label in 1987, and he’s been a favourite on the runway and red carpet ever since. But he’s never been content to just conquer the catwalk. He’s also appeared in movies, on reality TV, hosted talk shows, penned style bibles and comics, and was even the subject of an award-winning documentary, Unzipped. Now he’s bringing his larger-than-life personality and his designs – a Shopping Channel line, Isaac Mizarahi Live! – to Canada.
