Guest Alan Cumming

If all you know of Alan Cumming is his role on The Good Wife, then you may be in for a surprise. The reason, as good as he is on that show, there's truly much more to Cumming. He’s an actor who's impossible to typecast. He can play it straight (remember the high school reunion scene in The Anniversary Party?), not-so-straight (in Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut) and sometimes he just burns like a supernova (in Cabaret on Broadway, a role he will reprise in 2014). And by the way, that performance in Cabaret? It won him a Tony Award. Now, not surprisingly, Alan — born and raised in the splendidly named town of Aberfeldy, Scotland — has worked with some of the greats. The notorious Stanley Kubrick (Alan almost had a run-in with him), Tom Cruise (with whom Alan shared a memorable scene in Eyes Wide Shut), and if you’re talking greats — there’s also Alan’s friend Liza Minnelli, who recently presented Alan with amfAR’s Award of Courage in recognition of his commitment in the fight against HIV-AIDS.
