The Bio

Is this the right time to get 'tough on crime'? Evolutionary psychologist, Harvard professor, and best-selling author Steven Pinker says it's not. In fact, he believes that we are living in the most peaceful era in the history of the human race.

In his latest book 'The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined', Steven challenges our assumptions about what we see on the news. Listed as one of the New York Times '100 Notable Books of 2011', it asks provocative questions: are humans essentially good or bad? Has the past century seen moral progress or moral collapse?

Originally from Montreal, Steven has spent his career studying human nature and writing books that have earned him two Pulitzer Prize nominations... plus landing him on TIME magazine's list of the '100 Most Influential People'. Pinker frequently writes for publications like The New York Times, Time, and the New Republic.
