THE BIO

As 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart's' Most Senior Correspondent, Samantha Bee has investigated some of America's most pressing issues, from who's going to win the race to be president, to what's really going on in the Occupy Movement, to why there are so few Asian men in porn (seriously). And she provides this razor-sharp insight into the American condition, all the while being a proud Canadian.

So, how did a good Canadian girl find herself doing the fake news for Americans? Well, even by a comedian's standards, Samantha's upbringing in Toronto was a bit unorthodox. Her mom, for instance, was a free-thinker, even once taking Samantha to a Wiccan wedding. Samantha was a free-thinker, too, when it came to things like property: As a teen, Samantha and her boyfriend would jack cars, sell the parts and hold parties with the profits.

She straightened up her act though, and when she went to university, she got hooked on theatre. After performing for a few years with her comedy troupe the Atomic Fireballs, in 2003, she got the call from 'The Daily Show' and became their first non-American correspondent. Her husband, Jason Jones, came aboard in 2005.

Samantha still finds time to come home to visit - and work, appearing in shows like 'Michael: Tuesdays and Thursdays' and 'Good Dog'. And she's picking up accolades, such as the Crystal Award for International Achievement, from Women in Film & Television - Toronto. Take note: that's international. 'Cause comedy, like news, knows no boundaries - and there's no telling where Samantha is going to take us next.
