Toronto-born Paul Bates is an alumnus of The Second City, having written and performed in six revues there. He also makes up one half (with Doug Morency) of the Williamson Playboys, a musical-comedy duo that was recently showcased on NBC's 'Last Comic Standing'. Notable film appearances include 'The Tuxedo' and 'Welcome to Mooseport'.
As a writer he has worked on multiple television shows, including a 'Just For Laughs' special and helping create and develop the CBC reality series 'Second City's Next Comedy Legend' - on which he also appeared as a mentor to the contestants. For three seasons Paul was a senior writer for The Hour.
Paul is the winner of numerous Canadian Comedy Awards and was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award for his performance as Mayor Mel Lastman in the hit musical comedy 'SARSical'.
