The Bio

When it comes to hockey players, they didn't make 'em much better than Mark Messier. Originally an Edmonton Oiler, he won four Stanley Cups in five years there - then, won another one after the Oilers traded Wayne Gretzky to L.A.

Eventually, in 1991...Mark was traded away too - to the New York Rangers and he became a legend. In the '94 conference finals, the Rangers trailed New Jersey three games to two. Before game six, Mark famously guaranteed a win, then went on to score three goals in the third period to seal the victory. The Rangers went on to win the Cup, their first in fifty-four years.
In all, Mark has won six Cups and two MVP's, and is second behind Gretzky in all time in scoring, with one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven points. His number eleven is retired by both the Rangers and Oilers, and he's a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

These days, Mark is spearheading 'The Messier Project.' The goal is to address concussions in hockey through a public awareness campaign, and a revolutionary new helmet called M-11. He's also been named Team Canada's general manager for the upcoming World Hockey Championships.
