Jully Black has some serious pipes. No wonder she's been called 'Canada's R & B Queen.' But getting that title wasn't easy.

Jully grew up in a tough neighborhood - Toronto's Jane and Finch. Her twin brother died at birth, and her mom raised nine children on her own. As a kid, Jully started singing in the church choir, and says she knew early on she had a gift. Well, Canada's hip-hop elite agreed, and before long, she was collaborating with guys like Choclair, Kardinal Offishall and Saukrates.

Eventually, Julie got her own record deal, and in 2005, released her debut album 'This Is Me.' Two years later, time for another album called 'Revival' - which gave Jully her first top ten hit... maybe you've heard 'Seven Day Fool'?

Along the way, she's starred in the theatre production of 'Da Kink in My Hair', she's written songs for Nas and Destiny's Child, and shared the stage with Jay Z, Patti LaBelle, 50 Cent, and Bon Jovi.

Now, she has a new album called 'The Black Book.' The first single is called 'Running.'
