Surviving Hostile Regions

I recently went on a trip with the UN World Food Programme to Pakistan - but before going, me and the crew had to take a course in England called... wait for it... Surviving Hostile Regions.

Something like bootcamp for journalists, the course, which simulates hostile action right up to all the snaps, crackles and pops, is designed to get you prepared for the worst. We covered everything from reacting to gunfire and spotting land mines to first aid, map reading and how to avoid being kidnapped by militants. The full Pakistan special airs on April 1st, be sure to check it out.

In the meantime, here's a glimpse of what the training was like. Lesson of the day: huge eyeballs!
