Canada's Next Big Thing?

Don't know if you've seen this girl online. Her name is Heather Russell. She's from Toronto. She's 10 years old. And she's just been signed by Simon Cowell. Heather has been singing and writing music with her father since she was 3. By the time she was 5, her parents knew she was something special. Before long, Heather was playing piano and writing her songs. At 8, she wrote one called 'You're Beautiful' that went viral.

Eventually, she met Rob Fusari, a Grammy winning producer who helped launch Lady Gaga. They started recording together and Fusari was blown away. He told the Globe & Mail "At nine years old, nobody sings like that. We haven't seen this since Michael Jackson." Heather then sang for Simon Cowell in London in May of last year and he offered to sign her on the spot. Heather's album is expected to be released later this year. Here's a couple of her songs.

And if you missed this, Lady Gaga is a big fan of another 10 year old Canadian girl from Winnipeg. Her name is Maria Aragon and she sings Lady Gaga's hit 'Born This Way.'
