As every calendar year comes to an end, our friends at the Royal Canadian Air Farce get ready to run through all of the most crazy, confounding and quintessentially Canadian stories of the last 12 months in their annual New Year's Eve TV special.
But if we're talking things that are quintessentially Canadian, nothing beats hockey, which is why this year our favourite CBC comedy troupe has yielded centre ice to Hockey Night in Canada and moved its year-end review to the very first day of 2012.
Tune in on Sunday, January 1, at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. in Newfoundland) to catch Don Ferguson, Luba Goy, Craig Lauzon, Alan Park, Penelope Corrin, Arnold Pinnock and a slew of guests look back at the year that was in the Air Farce Not The New Year's Eve Special.
For a sneak peek of what to expect, check out the following excerpts from the show:

Not to be outdone, our friend Ron James tackles the holiday season with the Ron James Show New Year's Special, airing immediately after Air Farce at 9 p.m. (9:30 in Newfoundland!) Sunday night.
With help from Eric Peterson, Michael Therriault, Raoul Bhaneja, Kathy Greenwood, Matt Baram and Lauren Ash - not to mention an invigorated electronics store manager, a certain Aunt Vivien and detective Mordecai Moncton - Ron pays tribute to the year that was and the perils of the holiday season that is.
The comedian had a 2011 highlight of his own to discuss with George when he stopped by the studio a few weeks ago. Here he is in the red chair, recounting how he got caught up in one of the biggest off-field altercations in Grey Cup history in November, between Angelo Mosca and Joe Kapp:
